Home - Official Plan

Home is a constant state of being.

Home is within each and every one of us, yet many of us feel an inner sense of homelessness. As a global collective, we have been systematically indoctrinated into a fear-based paradigm that has hidden the underlying connectivity found within all of life. We have forgotten that wholeness is contained in every part, causing us to place some lives above others. We have killed, enslaved, beaten, broken and ostracized those who are simply acting as a reflection of ourselves.

In order to return home, we must correct our errored perception and choose the peace embodied within. Peace is abundant by nature, and when we recognize the wealth of love we have been hiding, there will be every reason to disseminate that love to every part of ourselves.

PEACE stands for the Promotion of Equality, Acceptance & Compassion Everywhere.

At PEACE, we aim to emerge from a paradigm of fear with absolute love for all that is.

In the beginning of our formation, we focused on the problem at hand. We recognized the harm that hatred is endowing upon trillions of beings, and we strategize ways in which we could spread this knowledge and encourage compassionate acts. In order to find a solution, we must first identify the problem. Our work to date has been on identification and gathering information to understand the situation to the best of our abilities.

PEACE is now evolving into a solution-oriented approach with the proposal of Home.

At Home, we will transform a place of violence into a sanctuary of Peace.

In Iowa state, there are approximately 10,000 registered CAFOs (Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations) (merchant & osterberg, 2018). At CAFOs, non-human animals are kept in extremely confined conditions that are structured so that the animals being imprisoned will grow as quickly as possible. Pigs bred for slaughter will be killed just 4-6 months after being born ("Guidelines for slaughtering, meat cutting and further processing", 2018).

Approximately 3 million humans live in Iowa. In Contrast, at least 23 million pigs can be found in Iowa at any given time (http://www.washingtontimes.com, 2018). While the life of these pigs is often narrated by horrendous living conditions and a violent, early death, they also pose as a massive environmental threat to the fragile state. On average, one pig will produce about seven pounds of waste a day. When all of the registered pigs accounted for in the state of Iowa are factored in, that means at least over 160 million pounds of pig poop is being dumped onto Iowa's land and streams every single day.

Ethically and environmentally, we clearly have a problem.

So, what are we going to do about it?

With Home, we believe we have discovered a solution.

Home aims to purchase a CAFO holding about 1,000 pigs and regenerate the land into a mega sanctuary for all.

Here’s how we plan to do that:

PHASE 1

PEACE is currently in the registration process to become a 501 (c)(3) non-profit, which is essential in order to collect the funding required for this project. In order to operate at maximum capacity, we are renting an office space in Fairfield, IA. In this space, we intend to operate a Vegan Helpline.

At this helpline, we will be able to answer questions such as:

How do I go vegan?

What are the benefits of being vegan?

Where do vegans get protein?

Where can I get vitamin B12?

How is animal agriculture affecting the planet?

How can I help the world?

How do I become an activist?

What is activism?

What activist groups are in my area?

How do I deal with my family around the holidays?

How do I care for injured animals?

I found an injured animal, where can I take them?

How can I get access to healthy, plant-based food?

What makeup brands are cruelty free?

Why do chickens lay eggs?

Why does a cow produce milk?

Are avocados vegan?

Is honey vegan?

Why do bees produce honey?

What are some good vegan recipes that I can make easily?

Is it more expensive to be vegan?

What types of vitamin supplements should I take as a vegan?

This helpline will also evolve from typical “vegan” topics and offer assistance to anyone that is need of help:

Where can I find housing?

How can I get on food stamps?

Where can I get warm clothes for the winter?

How do I cook myself food?

As PEACE unfolds, the scope of our helpline will expand. These are just the starting points we are choosing to launch at.

At this particular office, volunteer members of PEACE will also be working to further our plan and fundraise for Home. In order to broaden our audience and attract as many passionate people as possible, we will be simultaneously filming a reality YouTube documentary series. We aim for this series to post on a weekly basis and initiate the transparent nature of PEACE. As we film this series, we will also be compiling footage for a full-length documentary film that we intend to release once Home is established.

Once our foundation is put in place, we will begin reaching out to the owners of local CAFOs and having meaningful conversations with them about why they operate a CAFO, what they intend to do with their life, and what state they would like to leave the world. In an ideal situation, the CAFO owner will donate their land and all of the pigs that are currently confined and they will join us in our operations. In a slightly less ideal situation, the CAFO owner will agree to sell. Either scenario will work for our mission. However, if the owner does agree to sell, then we will need to ensure that they don’t intend on opening another CAFO with the money acquired from us. We would like to reach them at a heart level, and motivate them to launch a project of their dreams that is sustainable and non-violent.

Once we have a price point for the CAFO we will begin investigating the worth of surrounding land. Home will likely be a large community and the opportunity for growth is essential in our evolution. We will be contacting the owner of said land and discussing with them the possibility of selling to us and/or joining our cause. Additionally, we will be calculating the cost to feed roughly 1000 pigs for 5 years, which will contribute to the start up costs of phase 1. As will be discussed in further sections, we intend on starting a food recovery program with local grocery stores which should cut our feeding costs greatly. However, we want to prepare for a situation in which our current wishes aren’t completely fulfilled and have enough money set aside to ensure the pigs wellbeing.

Furthermore, we will be looking into the prices for building material. We will be working with a local group: reclamation project in order to use reclaimed wood for raised garden beds and for building materials. A special committee will be formed who will research sustainable building materials and reach out to companies for possible donations and/or prices.

To restate: the startup costs for home will include;

Office expenses,

CAFO price,

Land price,

Animal feed,

Building materials,

Transportation trucks.

Cost Estimate

Office - $300 a month for rent

300 x 12 = $3600 for the year

Google voice - free

Supply cost estimate - $300

CAFO - $250,000 (rough estimate)

Land - $80,000 (rough estimate)

Animal feed -

  • $3 a day per pig ~ 1000ish pigs = $3,000 a day

  • 3000 x 365 = $1,095,000

  • 1,095 x 5 = $5,475,000 lol

Building materials - $300,000

Transportation truck - $30,000

In January, we will be releasing a video stating our full plan. Assuming we have become a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit at that time, we will have launched a fundraiser that we will be promoting during this video. We will be sending our official proposal to specific individuals who we feel would be excited to participate in this project. A few examples of these individuals include: Miley Cyrus, Liam Hemsworth, Sia, Ariana Grande, Moby and Oprah. This video will be a part of a massive social media campaign we launch in order to spread information about this project.

An online survey will be available during this campaign for people who are interested in joining. The survey will ask questions such as: are you interested in contributing to PEACE? If so, how? Are you interested in joining in project Home? If so, what can you contribute? Are you planning on moving once we begin building? If so, when can you move?

We will also be including a suggested list of specialists we will need in the community (not in any particular order):

      1. Painters

      2. Engineers

      3. Students

      4. Musicians

      5. Farmers

      6. Architects

      7. Lawyers

      8. Writers

      9. Veterinarians

      10. Builders

      11. Organizers

      12. Chefs

      13. Healers

      14. Activists

      15. Filmmakers

      16. Teachers

      17. Plumbers

      18. Youtubers

      19. Scientists

      20. Electricians

      21. Cleaners

      24. Doctors

      25. Nutritionists

      26. Therapists

      27. Yoga instructors

      28. Graphic designers

      29. App designers

Local fundraiser operations will begin at this point as well. We will have community yoga session, movie nights and dinners, all by donation.

In order to establish a reliable source of income and create excitement in the community, we will opening a resteraunt called plant. All proceeds of plant will go towards funding Home.

PHASE 2

Phase 2 will begin operations in January. This phase will consist mostly of community planning and community building initiatives. We intend have a community center, 4 - 5 more barns, classrooms, food court and kitchen, gardens, compost center, eco homes, visitors center, recycling plant, a sauna and a pond. We will be planning for sustainability and sourcing our products as locally as possible. Renewable technologies will be considered in this phase as well. We will have a team reaching out to companies such as Ideal energy to discuss the possibilities of donated solar panels. We will also be looking at wind energy and the possibility of turning waste into energy as well. The goal is for this community to run on 100% renewable energy and to make enough that we can sell it back to the grid. We will also set up rain water collection devices and move forward with the goal of being zero waste.

In this phase we will enact a food recovery program for produce with local groceries stores such as Hyvee, Walmart and Everybody’s Whole Foods. The food recovered from these stores will primarily be used to feed the nonhuman animals at home.

Simultaneously, we will be searching for professors to create classes on regenerative agriculture, animal care, installing renewable energy technology, sustainable living / building and community construction.

PHASE 3

Phase 3 will begin once the monetary and land requirements are met.

The time in which phase 3 operates is going to depend on weather conditions.

Once we have acquired the CAFO, we will organize a crew of people to take care of the animals, providing them with love, veterinary care food and water. We will also begin building 4 - 5 more barns in order to alleviate the pigs of their confinement.

As this process begins, we will call out to the people who have signed up to build home to come home. Specific committees for construction, building and community engagement will be enacted and those who join will be able to choose which committee they’d like to be a part of. We will partner with MUM to provide temporary housing for those working.

We will immediately begin cleaning up the existing land and implementing a waste treatment system ( anaerobic digester ?) to deal with the manure. We will also install renewable technologies in order to power our building operations. As mentioned before, several more barns will be built as a top priority for the animals currently confined. We will then build our community center & kitchen before beginning to build tiny homes for those living on the land.

Our agricultural team will begin to tend to the land and plant crops that are deemed fit for the soil. We will also be building green houses and vertical farming operations. Our goal is to be fully self sustaining and quickly as we are able to manage.

We will also be building a park, restaurant & movie theatre. Our Art team will be given the opportunity to paint and design the village in an aesthetic and friendly manner.

Once we have the main functional parts of the village built we will begin moving people in!

PHASE 4

Phase 4’s focus will be on sustainable operations and interpersonal community relations. Every member of home will participate in a mandatory month long class that covers everything that is happening in the community; including, but not limited to:

      1. Animal care ( human and non human)

      2. Whole Foods Plant Based Cooking

      3. Regenerative agriculture

      4. Sustainable living

        1. composting

      5. Creative expression

        1. Artists way

        2. self-care

      6. Outreach / love-based communication

      7. Plant based medicine

      8. Yoga

Once they have graduated the course they will have the opportunity to choose which job they would like for the next month. We will have a rotating job system in which people have the ability to choose which job they would like each month. They will have the option to stay in the same position or switch to a different task.

We intend to open several more operations on site such as a veterinarian clinic, human healthcare center, daycare, art studio, school and a summer kids camp.

PHASE 5

The goal of home is to set a functioning operative model for future sanctuaries. Home is a community of learners who strive to live in a loving state of harmony within the world by transforming a place of violence into a sanctuary of peace.

We intend to explore the Industrial Hemp pilot with a possible partnership with MUM. We would also like to start a nut milk company ( or hemp ) called “happy cow hemp/nut milk” and there’s a picture of a dairy cow we will have hopefully rescued by then on the cover. We will also work on setting up an adoption system with radiance dairy if we’re unable to convince them to convert themselves to a sanctuary.

We will be launching free (by donation) classes for the public covering subjects such as: Biodynamic agriculture, Sustainable living, Composting, Whole Foods Plant Based cooking, Animal care, Yoga, Art & Growing herbs.

Outreach programs will then be enacted reaching our to local organizations and schools and educating them about veganism.

Once we are confident in our operations and have the financial capabilities to do so we will fly in PEACE organizers and teach them how to launch homes in their regions. When they return, they will begin scouting for their own locations.
